Hold the line

Astral Defense is a sci-fi tower defense game for Android. The Void Collective is invading across the stars, and you hold the line by building and upgrading a roster of towers along the path.

How it works

Main menu

The hub — jump into the campaign, pick a level, check the global rankings, or visit the store.

Core gameplay

Place and upgrade towers along the glowing energy paths to stop waves of the Void Collective, while a live-stats panel tracks gold, lives, wave, score, and efficiency in real time.

Tower upgrades

Every tower has three upgrade tracks — the Arc Cannon can specialize into Overdrive for damage, Long Rail for range, or EMP Rounds for slows — or be sold back for a 75% refund.

Power items

Spend gems mid-run to swing a wave: a small gold cache, a shield that absorbs the next leak, or relocating a placed tower without losing its level.

Campaign levels unlock as you progress, each scored up to three stars with a personal best to beat.

Astral Store

Optional gem packs for boosters, continues, and shields. Everything's still grindable — purchases are a shortcut, not a wall.

About the build

Astral Defense is the project that taught me the unglamorous half of shipping: the backend, the release pipeline, store compliance, and listening to real telemetry instead of guessing.

The game loop is deliberately simple to pick up and hard to master. Everything around it — the leaderboard, analytics, crash and bug reporting — exists so that every update is informed by how people actually play, not how I imagine they do.

More detailed build notes will land on the blog as I write them up.
